We decide on particular diet plans depending on our goals, especially people who want to lose weight. We research to decide what should be the part of our dream diet plan and sometimes even pay money to dieticians to prepare our plans for us. Many of us fail to stick to our diet plans for various reasons. Here are some various reasons responsible for our lack of commitment to our diet plans.

1. Too strict

Sometimes the diets we select for ourselves prove to be too strict for us to follow. They do not include our favorite foods which can result in mood swings, fatigue, and headaches. The goal of any diet is to optimize energy and not deprived. To fix this problem pick a diet that doesn’t eliminate anything completely. Avoiding carbs and calories completely is dangerous for our health. Talk with your dietician or doctor and decide on a diet plan which has everything in the proper proportion.

2. You are too impatient for results

When we go on a diet plan we expect it to work like magic and make us look and feel amazing right away. When this doesn’t happen we start thinking that the diet plan we picked is ineffective and go back to our old eating habits. The most effective way to avoid this is to tell yourself that it took time to gain weight and it will take time to lose it. Weight loss and getting in shape are things that take time and commitment.

3. Can’t resist Cravings

Diet plans often include foods we don’t enjoy and eliminate favorites which makes cravings hard to resist and we start thinking that eating one piece of cake will not make much difference. Eating one piece or one slice is a fast way to self-sabotage your efforts. A quick fix is to stick to your diet plan and understand that one piece is enough to do damage. Think of those cravings as zombies in your favorite game who are coming to destroy your efforts to stay healthy. Picking a monthly cheat day is effective, if you know that you can have pizza and a piece of chocolate on the second Friday it becomes something to look forward to.

4. Social pressure

Whenever we go to an office party or dinner out it becomes harder to avoid things that are not part of your diet plan. We often think that turning down food offered is rude. Party menus often contain many unhealthy foods and it becomes hard to avoid because of social pressure. A fix to this problem is to avoid planning get-togethers for dinner, suggest activities like cycling together or a play where popcorn and soda are not allowed. If you attend a potluck make a healthy dish so you know for sure there is something you can eat. A dance class can be fun, it will let you be a part of a social circle and will keep you healthy at the same time.

5. Emotions

We are engineered from childhood to use food as a reflection of emotions. Family celebrations often include cakes and alcohol, we have comfort foods that are filled with fat and little nutritional value, many of these foods are great for healthy makeovers. Often at work there are unhealthy snacks for break-time. This can be fixed by adopting emotional engineering techniques that teach you how to manage your emotions rather than using food to do so. Try Yoga or meditation to keep you calm and in control of emotions.

The solutions to these problems are not adopted overnight, regular motivation and commitment can make your diet do wonders for you.
