Korean fried chicken recipe
Makes 3-4 servings
Ingredients
- 3 pounds (about 1.5 kg) of chicken chunks
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup potato starch powder
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sweet rice flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. baking soda
For sauce
- 1 tsp. canola oil (or vegetable oil)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup hot pepper paste
- 1/3 cup rice syrup
- 1 tablespoon apple vinegar
For garnish
- roasted sesame seeds
Directions
Season your chicken with the salt and pepper. Let it set for 20 minutes.
Add starch powder, flour, sweet rice flour, egg, and baking soda into the chicken. Mix it well by hand to evenly coat the chicken.
Double fry your chicken in high heat for 20 minutes. Turning occasionally.
For the sauce.
Saute garlic in a teaspoon of canola oil. Pour ketchup, rice syrup, pepper paste, and stir. Add in apple vinegar.
Add your fried chicken with the sauce. Stir to coat the chicken with your sauce.
Sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds on top and enjoy!
